It was observed that water had taken over many houses and property, leaving residents stranded. Residents of Ovom community in Yenagoa LGA, Bayelsa state, have been displaced following flooding in the area.
Some of the residents have also moved to makeshift accommodations in other parts of the state.
Peremobowei also appealed to the Bayelsa government to support the flood victims.
“This flood started about a week ago. We did not expect that the water would come to this level. We thought it would be normal rainfall without negative environmental effects,” he said.
“As you can see, some people are now taking their loads to another place to minimise the destruction. We are facing many challenges over this flooding. Different reptiles are even moving around in the water.”
